Hi lovelies!
So as promised a quick review of the appliance that made my hair THAT big and curly on my snapchat – the Lee Stafford Chopstick Styler.
Well first off, as any of you following me on Snapchat (deec1987) will know the Chopstick Styler definitely works. This is certainly not a styler for any shrinking violets. You only have to look at the pics below to see the 80’s-esque statement do that it creates. If you want big, curly, fabulous hair then this ones for you. Unlike bigger barrel curlers and wands that help create medium to large softy curled locks, the thin ‘chopstick-like’ chopstick styler creates super tight, super curly, ringlet-like curls. In fact, if you don’t brush it out after curling it’s as close to a perm as you’re likely to get without the permanent commitment.
The styler was really simple to use and surprisingly didn’t take very long to get through my mane. You simply divide the hair into small thin sections (the thinner the section, the curlier the curl, the bigger the volume – so you can adapt it to your preference a little this way) and wrap the hair around the chopstick tong. It heats up to 200 degrees so you don’t need to hold it on the hair very long to get a great curl, especially if you’re using thin sections, plus you don’t want to singe the hair.
I didn’t put any product at all on my hair before or after styling it in order to see how it held up on its own and I was pleasantly surprised. The curls lasted all day and I didn’t brush it out until before bed. If you want to keep that really curled, perm-like look as in the pics above I’d advise not to brush your hair after curling but if you want maximum volume with a softer wave then brush away. I woke up the next day (still no product used) and my hair was still voluminous and curly, though the curls were much softer.
Overall I am really impressed with this little appliance and I’m excited to use it over the party season to change up my look a little! I should add that I have really long, thick and pretty straight hair that doesn’t hold curls easily so the fact this worked so well for me and stayed in, is testament to how great it actually is!
I’ve kept the best news for last though….. this fab little styler is just £15 in Argos… yip really!! Serious bargain and at that price would even make a fab Christmas gift or stocking filler for that girl you never know what to buy for! You can pick your Lee Stafford Chopstick Styler up here
I owe the lovely Sera over at The Style Guide Blog massively for the heads up on this little bargain – if you aren’t already following Sera you’re missing out and should rectify it immediately… here’s her link
